You might be wondering why it is important for your puppy to attend a puppy school course.

Not only will the course give you a wealth of information about common puppy problems such as house training, teaching a puppy bite inhibition (very important with sharp puppy teeth!), appropriate chew toys to reduce destructiveness, etc., it also allows the puppy time to socialize with other puppies and their handlers. This is critical to help your puppy become a friendly and happy, well-rounded adult dog. In addition to this, you as the handler will be taught the skills needed to train your puppy in a fun and effective manner using positive reinforcement training. The course is open to puppies between 8 and 16 weeks of age. The minimum number of puppies per class is 3 and the maximum is 6. Each puppy will require it’s own handler.

Course length: The course consists of six sessions, each an hour long. Each session will include a short theoretical discussion, practical training, and Q&A session as well as some puppy playtime. Each owner will also receive a hand-out covering the topics in more detail and giving step-by-step instructions for training the basic obedience behaviours that will be demonstrated, taught and practised in the sessions.

Course cost: The cost of this course if R 150 per puppy per session x 6 sessions = R 900. If the full amount is paid before the start of the course, there is a 10% discount i.e R 810 for the full course.

Otherwise, a 50% deposit is due before or at the first lesson with the remainder payable before or at the third lesson.

The course is held on the grass outside Provet in Raptors Safari Junction. Classes are usually held on Wednesday at 5 pm however the date and time is up for discussion by the course attendees and we do our utmost best to accommodate everyone. If you miss a session, you can schedule a 30min catch up at a suitable time – this is available for up to 2 missed sessions.
